Live-in care and Parkinson’s

We know it’s not always easy living with a progressive condition like Parkinson’s disease.

Over time, you may need increasing support with everyday life. Yet it’s also important to stay independent and get on with the relationships and life you enjoy.

Whether you’re planning ahead or you’re in need of extra help now, Vitality live-in care in your own home could be the answer you’re looking for.

Vitality Live In Care

If you’re part of a couple, live-in care can help you stay together in the same home

Help at home with Parkinson’s

Your Vitality live-in carer (we call them Personal Assistants) is trained to a high standard. They understand the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, such as tremor (shaking), slow movement and stiff muscles.

It doesn’t affect everyone, but anxiety and depression are common in people with Parkinson’s. For anyone living with Parkinson’s, it can feel lonely sometimes and the companionship of your Personal Assistant is a comfort.

On the practical side, they can help with personal care and taking your medications. Your Personal Assistant is also happy to handle chores such as cleaning, shopping, and laundry. They can prepare and serve healthy meals, too.

When you want to get out and about, you can feel confident because your Personal Assistant is there to help. You may want to try our Vitality Assist service. We have a fleet of accessible vehicles that can accommodate you in comfort, along with your mobility equipment if needed.

Your Parkinson’s care team

With Vitality live-in care, a private GP service is always included at no extra cost. When you first join, your private GP will come to see you at home. They’ll take time to listen and get to know you. They’ll make sure you have an up-to-date care plan that helps everyone on your team manage your symptoms and promote your health and wellbeing.

Your GP is always available to help with any concerns you may have. Your Personal Assistant can consult them regarding your care and so can your family, if you wish.

In addition, our understanding and qualified nurses can add to your care at home when needed.

Your Vitality live-in team will always work with your usual doctors, nurses, therapists and social workers. Our smart technology keeps everyone up-to-date on your care and helps them share information. You can also log in online and if you wish, so can family members or a guardian.

It all adds up to consistent and high-quality care that you can feel right at home with.
