Smart technology for live-in care

Keeping proper notes is a fundamental part of good medical and nursing care. With our smart technology, this traditional best practice meets up with the latest in digital healthcare.

We’ve invested in an electronic system that allows everyone on your Vitality live-in care team to record, share and view information about your care as it happens.

How it works

Here’s how it works. Every day, your Personal Assistant records information about food and eating, moods, general health and outings. They use a digital, hand-held device to do this.

The information is immediately uploaded and can be seen by the team in our office, who are always ready to help with any problems.

You can also access this information if you want to.

If you choose to share this information with family or friends, we can arrange for authorised individuals to see it too. We find this service is especially appreciated by family who live far away, who are on holiday, or who simply feel reassured to see daily information.

You and your loved ones can also send us messages at head office, in case questions come up. These messages will be responded to straight away.

Information sharing

If you agree, we can also share information with your NHS GP, and our doctors and registered nurses can see details of your NHS care. These clinicians are bound by strict professional codes of patient confidentiality, and the system must also meet NHS data protection requirements.

This is possible through a new linking system called NHS GP Connect. If you choose to give your NHS GP permission to connect with us, your private GP will have access to all the information they need to provide a complete healthcare check, and deal with any medical problems that might come up.

Your NHS GP will also be automatically updated through this system.

There are so many benefits to this smart technology:

• You don’t have to keep repeating the same information to different carers and health professionals
• Your entire care team has the latest information, which helps them make decisions and recommendations
• Everyone also knows your wishes

It all promotes good communication, and helps us offer you the best possible care.
